our story

In June 2004, Carla Cohen, a passionate paper-crafter searched for boutique-inspired, fashion-forward stamps, and finding none to suit her style, went into overdrive to create her own line. Six months later, she held prototypes in her hands, and Paper Salon was born.

"The market and timing were right for Paper Salon," notes Cohen. "No one offered a complete line of paper and coordinating ink at retail. During focus groups conducted prior to the launch, I saw consumers excited about the one stop shopping offered with pre-cut and scored cards, coordinated ink, and boutique-inspired stamps. I wanted to create a brand of paper craft products that would deliver a stylish and sophisticated end result."

Throughout the process of bringing product to market, Cohen consulted with experts in design and illustration, production and display, and using her own business skills honed through years of experience in marketing, merchandising and sales in the food industry, launched the complete line of Paper Salon products, fulfilling both a dream and a vision.

From her Minnesota office, Cohen immersed herself into the manufacturing world. She began with design, finding illustrators who could capture the whimsical, flirty and feminine style she sought for her rubber stamp collection. Expert advice in color forecasting and graphics helped complete the design and packaging of each product category, ensuring the fully coordinated look Cohen knew was necessary for success.

Not one to rest on any laurels, Cohen is already hard at work on line extensions and innovative new products that will roll out in the near future.
